Those 1937 and 1940 "Proof" Mercs look exactly like every other environmentally damaged, circulated, acid-treated, metal-filed, and wire-brushed "proof" I've been offered at coin shows. I suspect the seller was around 180 proof when doing the listings, though, because the decimal points seem to have been placed two spaces to the right on the prices.  |

That 1819 Half Dollar - whoever did that should be arrested for vandalism, why could they have not done target practice on a rusty Kennedy from 1972. Then again its a bit too well round for a pre 1830s coin - are we sure its not a Chinese fake? The Victorian 3d - good lord, funny how anyone can even call a badly cleaned coin - UNC. Is that the new way to charge for UNC coins, now by polishing heavily worn rubbish to make it look shiny - that coin would be VG on a good day. Its good you guys can report this tosh to ebay, because on Trademe they have removed my reporting privileges and now issue me warnings when I tell someone through the Q and A feature what they have is deceptively overgraded, overpriced, counterfeit or completely wrong. Most of these online auctions don't care about overpriced and misdescribed items - getting the biggest success fee possible is the bottom line. It was good in the early 2000s when a private company - but bought by some omni corp organisation - it swotched to profits first and ethics last. Edited by Princetane

That coin is last year and already worn and stained!
Is that why its so rare as there must be thousands of flawless ones still out there.

These coins don't look like proofs to me!  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2015-ROY...100040.m2060Of course, perhaps the seller had two 2015 British proof sets, broke open the packaging, took out the 2p's, used them as pocket pieces for a while and then kicked them around their backyard for a few hours before wiping them clean and sticking them on ebay...
