I think xf but not to good at this. I wonder what would have caused the rub areas, it's too bad it happened cause a lot of areas to me look AU condition. But those darn rub marks. Comments please. I still like this coin, it's my oldest one

You're looking at typical Bust strike flatness; looks like rub because those areas simply don't patina the way the rest of the coin does. I'm thinking this one a slam dunk at XF with a shot at AU depending on how a pro might evaluate the strike. Tough issue in higher grades like this; they circulated heavily. Love the color.

Great eye appeal. XF+++ and may have a shot at a low AU grade.

By rub areas, are you talking about the lighter areas in the hair curls, eagle's head, and wing? I believe those are caused simply by the patina being worn away. I am going to say it grades AU-50. It has enough detail for an AU. The eye appeal is great. If it doesn't make AU, it might be because of the luster but I think EF-45 would be the minimum.

AU would be nice. You think this is a good one for sending in someday?

My pessimistic opinion of value is ~$150 in a PCGS slab. If that math works for you, by all means consider slabbing.

All day, every day, every single equivalent coin you could sell me at $110. Yeah, that was a decent purchase, and pretty much the Bust Half I'd choose (along with an 1839) for the relevant spots in a 7070.

Capped Bust Halves enjoy a fanaticism of fan base equaling and perhaps exceeding early copper, which is to say it doesn't get much better. Busties are readily available, thoroughly researched as to variety, attended by a supporting Club with stringent-but-achievable conditions for membership which involve buying a_lot of coins, and (in my humble opinion) an utterly beautiful design. "Red hot" is not transitory. I'm of the opinion that - aside possibly Morgans - Bust Halves are the single most-collectible US coin issue from the standpoint of both buyer and seller.

Very nice and a keeper, but just too much wear for anything more than a XF40 in my eyes.

I'd love it out of the glare of the Mylar to really see the surface in all of its glory.

Remember how this one looks and buy all you can just like it. Don't think it makes AU though. Put me down for 40-45. Nice coin.

Nice coin!! I agree with XF-40, possibly 45; but not enough luster to go AU imho.
