...meanwhile in the ebay universe: Attention Sellers: Dear Seller! Statements such as "I strive to deliver 5-star customer service" are a great way to let buyers know you are focused on customer satisfaction. However, you aren't allowed to discourage buyers from leaving specific detailed seller ratings or Feedback. Buyers should feel comfortable leaving honest Feedback. Any statements that discourage this practice, including the mention of the possible penalties for not meeting ebay's seller performance standards are not allowed. For example, you can't say things like: "If I receive detailed seller ratings (DSRs) of less than 5, ebay will suspend me." " ebay holds me to a standard well above 4 stars so only leave 5 stars." " ""Feedback will be left for you only after your positive feedback has been left." If your listing includes this kind of information, please edit it before posting it on ebay. Otherwise, this could prevent you from achieving Top-rated seller status. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***Edited by coinworldtv 01/11/2014 7:39 pm

Well, to be honest, its not compatible here either. You cannot say whatever you want here.
It's their house, their rules.

To be honest, I think this is very fair.

Yup, it's ebay and their rules are their rules no matter how you may feel about it.

You people seem not to get the point here. A low rating does not improve the service you get from a seller (although this is the reason ebay claims to have introduced it). This is just another method to put randomly sellers down from the Top-Rated status and to get more seller fees by lowering their seller discount. It is a trick, another Big-Data product and the above statements are the proof, that such methods work! If you do not know what big-data is than now is the time to know more about it. We are being already pushed around by its products!

No, you seem to be missing the point.
If they don't want encouragement for a 5-star rating stated explicitly in a seller's listing, then they are well within their rights to discourage that practice.
A low rating may not improve service from a seller (although if that seller is paying attention, then it ought to), but it *will* warn other buyers if that seller isn't performing too well in a certain category.

What they did is to choose examples which sound like: " ebay holds me to a standard well above 4 stars so only leave 5 stars." " the above sentence means: " ebay will raise my seller fees if you leave less than 5 stars". The consumer (you!) thinks without such a warning, that if he gives here and there 4 stars the seller will still be well rated and a 3 stars will not hurt him. The opposite is the case, but the suggestive feedback system does not give a hint about the consequences. Now even the sellers can not explain how they feel about it. In future a seller will be prevented from writing a message to another user about the matter. All in all what ebay says is: The buyer is not to be informed of what he causes, he is there to buy and to react as expected (give low ratings once in a while without thinking and having ebay have its share pushed up by a certain percentage). Is this a thing to be "proud" of? I do not have anything against this, as I do not get any discounts at all, but here I am concerned about how people are being used as mallrats.

...just for the protocol I did not entered any feedback request in the listing, it seems that as soon as one mentions the word "STAR" in a listing the "RED LIGHT" (warning) is being turned on...

I think you are reading more into this then there is. When I buy, I leave ratings appropriate to the transaction. Regardless of what the seller asks. Good service gets high ratings...
and you should look up "Big-Data", I don't think you know what it really means. And big-data is a new buzz word for a very old problem. ( I have been a computer pro for over 30 years)

Name it what you want, the result is raised fees in the name of the buyer!
Why connecting fee discounts with buyer feedback if not for charging a little more here and there?
Why introducing the new international shipping service if not for more profit, again in the name of the buyer?

Actually the result is going back to regular fees.

ebay is a for profit business. Everything they do is to make a profit. That is their goal. You can always sell or buy on another site.

I don't like creepy sellers mentioning how they will leave you negative feedback if you do the same to them. It turns what is the nominally honest process of buyer/seller feedback into a twisted mutually-assured destruction pact.

I do not get these discounts anyway.

Quote: You people seem not to get the point here. Yeah. No. Quote: "Feedback will be left for you only after your positive feedback has been left." That is unethical. Get the point?
