For the very first time, I dealt with an ebay seller to whom clearly merits negative feedback. But it's such a piddly little transaction that I don't want to get mired in some long-winded dispute with the seller. Simply put--I want the feedback record to show the seller 1. engaged in bait-and-switch and 2. hijacked another's pictures with the intent to deceive. So I read a bunch of ebay pages on this--but I still have questions: do I have to first file a SNAD claim before I leave a negative? If the seller can purge the negative rating--how do I make it stick--do I need to provide documentation to ebay? At this point, I don't care about the refund--I just want other collectors to be forewarned, since it appears the seller has done this more than once. Thanks, ebay experts! I don't know much about the negative feedback, as I've never given it or received it. But I have given positive feedback and left a 'neutral-negative' comment hoping someone would read it. You can also send the seller a message via ebay and make him aware of the situation and see how he responds and go from there. IMO negative feedback is definitely an option, but always a last option for me if I can't work it out another way.

He's done it before, he'll do it again... SNAD. So you only lost a few bucks what about the next guy to buy garbage for thousands. Saying nothing is flat-out permission to commit fraud! I have been wasting my time for the past half decade or so on an MMO video game. Selling overprices junk to idiots is kind of fun there, just go out and kill a few dozen orc's and they have their money back. I'm thinking about starting ebay sales myself and would never try anything like that. This is the camels nose in the tent, please put an end to it now.

You can leave negative feedback without any kind of explanation. If you open a case or not is your choice, but the negative feedback is absolutely independent.

If the item you received is not EXACTLY what you ordered then by all means file a SNAD dispute and get your money back. If you let this Seller slide on this it is just another ticket for him to do it to others down the line.
Does his feedback show he has done this to others or does he have questionable comments in his profile?
A mistake is one thing, deliberately shafting people is another.
Negative feedback is deserved sometimes.

Stay away from civilization_maxim also. I purchased two Poland 2 Zlote 2010 Battle of Grunwald,600th anniversary commemoratives from him. He sent just one along with $3 bucks in the envelope and took nearly 3 weeks to ship. First neutral feedback I have ever left a seller. havn't had to leave a Neg yet.

If you leave negative feedback the seller can contest it through ebay. If he does contest it you'll get a message from ebay on if you want to leave the negative feedback ad is or change it. I have had this happen and I changed it from negative to neutral. However the neutral feedback wasn't nice either. So leave negative feedback if you want then see what happens.

I'm not sure I understand the reluctance. Feedback is supposed to educate other buyers about the potential experience with this seller. Do you want anyone else having the same bad experience? Your sister? Your Mother?
Whomp a negative on his fanny and unless he promises to stop and makes good leave it there.

Quote: Do you want anyone else having the same bad experience? Your sister? Your Mother? What are you implying--that my 'reluctance' somehow perpetuates a crime--or that I'm putting my family in harm's way? Are you serious?! Clearly, this thread was about fact-finding ebay rules and determining "best practices" for lodging a complaint. I have satisfied my curiosity.

I would report any suspicious auctions to ebay with hopes they would pull them and leave a well deserved negative. People like that are the whole reason this hobby is getting so hard and gaining a reputation for fraud and fakes. We all need to police it ourselves as best we can. I wouldn't hesitate with a negative, provided the proof is there.
