It's required to exhibit trace gold and platinum in the 0.1-1.0% range for Reale regal authenticity. This is also seen in my September 2013 paper for the Mexican Numismatic Association on the Chihuahua Cast/Restrikes all having THESE TWO TRACE SIGNATURE METALS of gold and platinum at the 0.1-1.0% level (as expected). They must be present - no exceptions allowed for regal issues. This idea was first brought to light by P.T. Craddock of the British Museum in his forgery coin studies and I carried it over to this forthcoming GNL book and in all my current research activities with WORLD CONTEMPORARIES. The metal assay list used in my September 2013 MNA paper is also a recommended listing of metals for testing in any Reale piece.
I recently purchased a high grade CC8R Sheffield from the Eric P. Newman Collection in MS61. Its currently in route as of this weekend. I paid this price just to have a souvenir of a Mint State Sheffield in a TPG from a well pedigreed collection. It proves our point in the GNL book on the incredible high workmanship of these English Tower Mint pieces when they were counterfeited at the time. I will post a picture after it arrives <BG>.
