helo and welcome.

They are both early Islamic coins.

The one on the right is a "figural bronze" dirham from Badr al-Din Lu'lu, the founder of the Lu'luid dynasty which briefly ruled the area around what is now northern Iraq, AD 1233-1259. Most coins of this type appear to be dated 631 Islamic Calendar (= AD 1233). Compare with examples on this zeno.ru page.

The coin on the left is trickier to identify, since many regions and dynasties issued coins of much this same design. If I had to guess, I'd guess late Abbasid, or perhaps one of the minor dynasties that broke away from the Abbasids in Iran and northern Iraq, sometime AD 800-1100.

Sure. Figural bronzes are fairly popular, and collectors in the West are becoming more familiar with them, with so many American servicemen coming home from Iraq with a couple of old coins sold to them as souvenirs. Yours is perhaps a bit overcleaned and there seems to be some damage on the reverse inscription, but it's probably still genuine (you do have to worry about fakes in this series, and your pics are a bit too small to be absolutely sure). I'd have guessed around $40-$50 each for them from a coin dealer; here's one that sold on ebay recently for $47.

The silver one, if it stays unidentified probably $30 or so, probably $50 or more if it can be pinned down to issuer and date.

Wow, thanks so much for the information. Now I just need someone who knows something about ancient cylinder seals and I would be set.
