Poll Question
Which-One-Would-You-Pick?
These two sold at the teletrade auction earlier this week. I find it funny that two coins at two completely different ends of the spectrum would sell for nearly the same price. So if you had to pick one, which one would it be?

Why in the world would someone pay $60 for an 1892? It's book value is only slightly higher then that of the 1893.

I am surprised that the 1893 didn't go for $90+

With the recent inception of the PCGS "Low-Ball" Registry Sets came a new new found love for low graded PCGS slabs. PO01-AG03 are now selling at a premium.

Now, rather than cracking slabs and dipping or "conserving" coins to re-submit and gain a point or two; flippers are cracking coins and using them as pocket pieces/or speeding up the wear process in order to obtain the elusive PO01 or FR02 from PCGS.

Personally, when I put together a set I seek out these grades b/c it is much more fun to hunt for a problem free, appealing, well circulated bust coin. Anyone can obtain an AU-MS (bust) coin if they are willing to throw enough money at it.

I don't mind a little wear on a coin.... (or even a lot depending on the coin), but that first one is just too much, it's below the point that I would even considering buying a coin. Not enough detail left.... I would go for the MS-63 all day!

Maybe I should submit this 1909 50 cent for some lowball grading.

I choose the MS coin ,even though I can see some attraction to the FR02 coin .

Too bad the FR-2 didn't get $65. Then we would have to answer the question is the FR-2 really MS63 or is the MS63 really a FR-2?

After all now, price=grade.

Longnine, for a while the FR02 was actually going for $20-$30 dollars MORE than the MS63. Towards the end of the auction they started to get close to the same price.
Rest in Peace
