I went through a few toonies today and found this coin with a strange-looking finish (it's on the right, left coin is for comparison):
Mint-Set-Escapee?
Mint-Set-Escapee?

Is this the coveted "mint set finish" on a coin that has emancipated itself or am I just going crazy?

Its a pl set escapee so you're not going crazy.
Once I received a gem 1997 specimen toonie from the bank, it still baffles me.

Awesome! This is my first sets-only find in circulation. I don't think there's any demand for these but it's still worth keeping!

Oh wow , that is a very nice find

I like how mint set set coins are not too difficult to distinguish from business strikes in Canada ....
