Hello everyone,

I found this coin on a small city secondhand market in the south of Thailand near the Myanmar border.
I tried to identify it but without success. Could you please help me?

Weight: 11.55g - Diameter: 27-28mm (not round) - not magnetic

Pyu-?-Indian-?-Funan-?

Pyu-?-Indian-?-Funan-?

Thank you,
J.

Hi J and welcome to the community.

It's a shame that no-one has come forward with any ideas (myself included). I've looked at all the possibilities and have come up with nothing.

I'm sure I've seen something like the 'squiggly' design somewhere before but I can't trace it.

I would have thought that Sap (one of the most learned people on this forum) at least might have come up with something. So hopefully there is time yet for someone somewhere to come up with an answer.

This coin looks to be made of lead,(Pb).
The Khmer kingdom of Angkor produced lead coins in 15th century.

Hello,

Thank you for your answers.

I already searched from Cambodia to India and found some similar coins.
The signs on the obverse seem to be Kannada.
I guess that the metal is tin or lead. It's not magnetic.
As I surf the net with my tablet, I can't give the links where I found similar coins. I'll post them as soon as I am back home.
Thank you again,

Have a nice sunday,
J.

Hello again,

I searched almost everywhere and the coins which are the most similar are Ahichhatra (King Achyuta), Kadambas of Banavasi and Madurai Nayak.
I also found this Madurai Nayak coin with similar signs :

Pyu-?-Indian-?-Funan-?

I also thought it was a coin from a Burmese state but didn't find "my" coin there.

Thank you for any help,
J.

It's very unlikely that this coin/token originated in India,
SE Asia would be my guess.
