Traded 2 generic rounds and 15 dollars for two random year ASE's (1987 and 2000) and 6 roosies. Not a bad first experience. Its also the first ASE that I've ever boughten/held. Its been a pretty exciting night for me.

Not bad, $2 per on the dimes and a $1.50 premium over the generic rounds, I just asked a few days ago if ASE's were just bullion or if there were key dates... 2000 is a key

96 is the key date for ASEs, 97 too I believe.

There are big honking coins aren't they. I carry a beat up one in my pocket.

Yeah they are really big coins. I didn't realize how big until I actually held one in my hand. I always assumed that they were the same size as Morgans/Peace.

I do plan on going back. I got a bunch of 40%ers from crh that I want to trade for some BU Franklins to add to my set. It was a cool coin store, definitely a keeper.

LCS's are smart. Negotiate a little harder on your second trip if the dealer isn't as nice as the first time Negotiating is fun.

I always try to get a better price at my LCS. If they will not budge on the prices, you can always walk away.

Went to the LCS today on the way home for work, and got some more coins. Two 2014 ASE's for 3.50 over spot. Is that high or low? I did not know how to argue that with the LCS because I've never boughten from there only before that one time. Let me know?

SECOND PURCHASE

A generic round is $2.00 over spot, an ASE is $3.50 over spot at my LCS. Just like your first purchase it's $1.50 over the generic round. I'd say they are treating you fair, call them tomorrow and just ask what their premium is for generic rounds and ASE's, or stop back in the drool.

Unless you are good at haggling I'd get to know them better before trying to talk them down too much. Walking away is fine but don't walk away mad and don't make them mad they are in it to make money just like everyone else but they will be more happy to throw in a little more, or make it a little less if they like you. I got a set of War Wheaties once while buying something else and he didn't even charge me face for them, just tossed them in, he searched a stack and found them all in a few minutes, not BU but good enough. On that visit I only got the cents and a Whitman's folder then I asked how much for the cents and he said take 'em, but the time before that I got stacks of rounds

If you buy in bulk they will remember you, walk in with $400 and walk out with a stack of generic rounds or a hand full of Morgan culls, or a pocket full of SLQ's, or mix and match I know everyone's on a budget so just hold off and save up but still go in and drool, as long as they don't have a 'NO DROOLING ALOWED' sign... I'm sure they won't have a problem. Plus you will get to know them and vice versa.
