I saw this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...08&rd=1&rd=1It's a funny story (or a sad one depending on who's eyes you are seeing it through) but something about it seems fishy to me. Why wouldn't see just sell all of the coins in the album and leave the slabbed coins in the slabs? I think someone is just making this in order to make a quick buck. What do you guys think?

This exact same auction has been run now every 2-3 months for the past year or so almost verbatim. The seller has used the same pirated photos in each auction. I went back and looked for the past auctions but, they have all been pulled. It will interesting to see how long this one lasts and the outcome of feedbacks.

I didn't know that. I guess my gut instinct was right that it was a scam.

This person is selling a story, not the coins. I agree it is probably a scam.

Amazing how they are all worn out, but you get to two pics that show a shiny Seated liberty right on top.....Pretty high price right now. It's already at twice melt for resale....

This person is selling a story, not the coins. I agree it is probably a scam. Very true. It's not much different than the "My grandfather recently passed away and left me his coin collection. I know nothing about coins and don't have the time to list every one individually. So, I am offering them to you in this Dutch Auction at 1 coin per bid." Or "My father just purchased an abandoned house and we are selling the contents of the safe/safety deposit box that was left behind."

I would bid but all my money is tied up with a nice Nigerian man who said I could be rich if I helped him out. Got my fingers crossed.

I agree, I think a lot of people sell the story than the coin. Now a days with the internet (especially), books, magazines, dealers, etc people have so many options of finding out what their coins are worth, rather than they are clueless so they put it up on ebay...ya right.

A complete scam. You'll notice how in the main picture they're all barbers but the seller is supposedly getting 'rid' of coins that go from 1829 to 1916. You'll also notice in one of the pictures that there is a bust dime in at least EF right smack in the middle obviously positioned to attract unwitting buyers' attention. In another one the same thing is done with a beautiful Seated dime. It's probably cased in something to avoid damage.

Actually, I don't get what you guys are calling a scam.... It WILL be a scam if the winner doesn't get 616 (or whatever) dimes dated from 1829 to 1916. If the winner gets these dimes, then it isn't a scam. The only thing "dishonest" about the auction MAY be the reason for selling them. But how the heck do we know? And I don't think the dimes care where they came from

I prefer to send my hard earned money to honest people. If it is easy for them to fib about the why, then it should be easy for them to fib about what you end up with, if anything. O feedback and they want me to send a thousand dollars on cutsey half truths.....I don't think so.
