I picked this one up today to add to my set. The surfaces look creamy in the pics. In hand, it is not. I liked that it has a nice little die crack at 12:30 on the reverse rim. Thanks for looking!

VF-25. As always you have great taste in selecting nice circulated coins with nice eye appeal for your collection.

It looks F-15 to me. Too much wear on the wings to make VF in my opinion

Thanks Joe 2007! I do love honest circulated coins. The fact that they were in the wild and spent a lot adds to the wonder of a coin to me. Coins this early rode on horseback, covered wagons, and coal fired locomotives. Wouldn't it be interesting if you could just mark on a map of all the places it had been like a GPS tracking device, not to mention what all it has paid for and famous people that may have had it in their pocket.

it's borderline F to VF, I do not believe it to be near a VF25 but I could be tipped towards VF20. The scroll on the shield is slightly weak in the lettering but you do get definition on the pole through the arm and at this grading level and that brings VF right into play. The reverse shield is strong.

Great color, nice head strike and certainly all original. Great pick up JP

Lets get Moe and jeffrose to grab a peek, they have a lot of LSH exposure and experience.

VF 25 for me. Too strong of Liberty on the scroll for Fine.
A choice circulated coin!

Thanks for the head's up Louis!! I had completely missed this thread. Why? I have no idea!!

I like VF-20 for this coin. I really like the die crack on the reverse!

Nice obverse strike with even wear. IMO, the reverse strike is a bit weak. Wear on the reverse is usually noted on the eagle's head and the tops of the wings. Wings tend to wear usually on the highest points, i.e., the tops, not the middles. That weakness is usually from the initial strike. (New Orleans strikes particularly seem weak at times).

Nice coin!
