Good day to everyone. I purchased this coin over the weekend. Any help identifying the variety would be appreciated. Also your opinion of the grade is welcomed.

Somethin about it doesn't like right to me. Primarily with the rim and denticles.

Beautiful coin! I'm not familiar enough with this series to give an informed opinion as to grade, but would hazard VF at least until I get home and can look at my grading books.

I don't have any trouble with the rim/denticles. I assume it's in a coin holder of some sort.

Well, the hair detail would indicate a F+, but according to photograde, (my version is an older one), E Pluribus UNUM should be complete on the reverse for a Fine grade, so I'll say VG-10.

Nice coin in any case!

Variety: BB-165, B-8, R-2

Obverse Stars Arranged 7 left & 6 right
Normal Date/9's without Spurs
LIBERTY evenly spaced between stars

I really like the die breaks and what look to be adjustment marks. With the overall wear, I suspect some slight tooling (eyes, nose, and bow?) Usually the bow begins to show the first signs of wear.

I think this attribution wizard would interest you:

Thanks for the responses.

Rim just has a few dents. Because the photo of the coin was taken at an angle the lettering along the edge appears in the shot. By the way its the only place that indicates the one dollar value which is why I really like the coin.

Bought it at price between VG & F. Sending it to PCGS and hoping for fine. Agree "E Pluribus UNUM" on reverse is an issue.

I would speculate that it will holder at VG08...post your results. Are going to submit it under the Quarterly Submission Special? I just sent my 1799 $1 off yesterday.
