I've seen several posts regarding posting pics of coins on CCF for members to opin on grade and value.
If you've read my prior posts, you know I'm new here and have a lot of coins that I know near nothing about. I'd like to get some of your expert opinions.
Is there a specific forum for this? What is the best way to post pics of LOTS of coins? One at a time. One in a thread? Gang post a bunch of them? What?
What is my limit?

to CCF. It's best to post one at a time in the appropriate section for the coin. John1

They are all U.S. coins with a very few exceptions. I'm in the process of setting up a photo rig to capture images of the coins and will be posting pics in the next couple of days. I'll start with the Morgans and Peace dollars.

Quote: Most people prefer one coin per post. True but if you have several that you would like to post to ask something like "Is there anything I need to look for in these?", that would OK as well. You may also post a list by demonitation the years you have, then members can help you zero in on years with varieties. Morgans and Peace dollars? Paging SSuperDDave....

That sounds like a really good idea.
So, I'm about to embark on a rough inventory of, at least, these in the "classic" category, and perhaps the sets that I have already identified.

This is what I would do. I would pick a coin(your favorite?), Look at PCGS Photograde and grade it youyrself. Keep that grade in mind and post a pic of your coin, asking what would others grade it. You can keep your grade to yourself or say " I think it is ..........." See how close you get. Ask why you thought it was this.....and they thought it was that...... Pick another coin, do the same thing. After a while you will be spot on with everyone else. We are here to learn, share, and eventually help/teach others. People will soon tire of a barrage of coins from you and start to feel they are doing all your work for you. But if you attempt to learn, coin by coin and show people your progress, firstly you won't have to show ALL your coins, secondly you will feel comfortable and confident at grading your own coins.

Concur with the advice given above ...
If you have a significant number of coins in a series ... best to simply list the date/mm and your best guess at grade ... then we can help to guide you to coins that might deserve more investigation.
Do your best at homework ... there are ample internet resources out there for coin grading and values ... everyone here appreciates and values a beginning collector who is learning while doing their own work!
Please do not throw multiple coin photos onto a post and ask ... Grade These For Me.
Truly ... it is difficult for us to be supportive when the post has many coins posted for grade in the same thread ... everyone loses track and there is very limited knowledge passed on.
One coin at a time please for grading opinions ... use your own ability to research first ... lists with coins for us to help select the ones we should help with is a minimum starter.

There are lots of easier methods to evaluate large amounts of coins rather than photoing each one and posting anywhere. For example make a list of what you have and look up similar ones on ebay. Get a copy of the Red Book by Whitman Publishing and look up what you have. Back to making a list of your coins and then go to a web site like Numismedia or the PCGS web sites for their listing of prices on coins. Send all your coins to me and I'll tell you what you just lost. Take them all to a local coin store and get the lowest possible value of all of them. If you have an idea of what you have you could list what you think is the most valuable ones on this forum. There is a special place for gussing grades. I'd suggest that if you have a large amount of coins. If you know more of the dates and their approximate mintages, you could sort of know which is worth your time. Many think they have valuable coins only to find they are not so valuable.

Carl is good for that. Read his posts carefully. If you've a series of identical coins to post for opinion - same issue - it would be my preference (and I think within the membership's tolerance) for you to post two or maybe three in the same thread. My thinking is, every thread you post bumps somebody else's thread off the first page of that forum, and I would prefer to see the membership economize individual threads for that reason. It's a known phenomenon that most people won't click onto the second page of a given forum even if the first page is all posts from the same day.
