This is my first purchased Barber (kind of an oops, long story). It is in a problem free NGC AG3 holder, picked it up for $41. These are the auction pictures, I do not have it in hand yet. How did I do? (Good news MAY get me back in hubby's good graces ).

Price-wise I'd say you did quite well.

Kelly - - nice looking Half. She certainly did her part serving the economy and in doing so, acquired a nice circulation cameo. As for whatever is bothering the hubby, do what my wife does - - "Plead ignorance and beg forgiveness."

A nice price for a decent looking semi key. scanning the completed ebay sales I would say you got a great deal!

Quote: "Plead ignorance and beg forgiveness." I do that AND remind him I do not like buying clothes and shoes (I own 3 pairs for work, black, brown and light brown) so he is probably ahead of the game.

From NGC's app (thank you macmercury for discussing this in the 1945 dime thread!). I think these images are better.

I say you did fine. AG is normally about half the price of a G and Numismedia quotes this coin at $138 in G.

It should please your husband to know that whoever sold this coin, now regrets having lost it that that price. You're well below market on this one, and I hope you show him this thread.

The 97-O is a tough date in the half series. Especially in problem free circulated condition. I personally would go after a full rim specimen, but for that coin, I say 41$ is a good deal if you are filling a hole.

For an AG example, it looks like you did very well. The '97-O date is my favorite in the Barber Half series, right along the same lines as the 1909-O Quarter for the quarter series.
