Nice one!! I am with Shafta9a on this...but 62BN. TPG's are hard on the R, RB, and BN designation.

I think MS62RB is pretty solid. A little bit too much going on for a 63, and I think it still has more than 5% red so I think it would make RB.

AU62RB for me. I just can't quite tell whats going on on the left wheat ear? Is that a weak strike or wear? Maybe some wear on the right one as well? Bummer about the fingerprint but me still likey!

KILLER COIN! Love those tinges of red around the devices. That's exactly how a well cared for coin that old should look....extremely original coin.

PS - I hope you have that in an airtite and a few ziplocks. That coin will stay like that for a long, long time if properly protected.

Thanks I will.

20 or 30 years ago when I bought this coin at a coin show a dealer asked "Why would you want a brown when there are so many MS reds available?"
While I understand and respect this view, I'll opt for BN or RB every time.

Are these so weakly-struck to have missing lines in the wheat stalks even in Mint State? I just looked at a couple dozen or so at Heritage, and none of them were remotely like this until AU50-ish.

I love the coin, and will not hazard a guess as to the grade, but wouldn't the big hit on the ear plus the smaller hits on obv and rev keep it closer to 61 or 60 if it is uncirculated? Or am I over deducting for things like that when I grade my coins?
