Segs seams to be the cheapest any reason not to use them. I personally only care when buying for authentication because there are some really good fakes out there lately. But as far as grade I always go with my gut because as we've all seen at least 2 grades difference on the same coin from both pcgs and ngc. I talking about sending out my what I think is a 14/13 buffalo and 2 18/17 s slw. Thanks

Youd be costing your self a lot of money having 2 18/17 SLQs in SEGs holders over PCGS or NGC if you were to sell them.

I wouldn't mess around with good coins. Top 3 only. Top 2 if it's a really nice coin. Just my .02.

I agree. SEGS is cheap, So is PCI. Both are good, heck I put PCI over ICG anyday. Thing is, certification by PCGS, will cost you only maybe $20 more, as compared to a loss of possibly $100's on these rare coins. Even if you don't plan to sell them anytime soon, PCGS certification will really help in a trade or just, for your peace of mind.

Which generation? Heck, they've been through at least three different owners - and a second name - since Coin Community has existed. And now they're open again, under yet new ownserhip.

SEGS, I'm not so high on. Larry Briggs is a tremendous numismatist and the go-to guy for Seated stuff, but I've seen some pretty questionable calls in their holders.

As a rule of thumb I'd go with PCGS or NGC for coins that are likely to be valued over $200 or so. If the value is under that and you're only getting graded for your own peace of mind I'd probably go with ANACS.

Just my Two Cents
