I was helping out at a local coin shop today. I got a call from the other location. (family has two stores) My boss was asking if I had gone to lunch, and asked me not to leave. When she walked in she handed me this and told me her dad wanted me to have it. I thought it was very interesting .. because my name is Tom. first thing I thought of was Jbuck's Ike .. Makes it more nice when someone thinks enough about you to give you cool things. Just thought I would share. Should I use it as a pocket piece? Just so everyone knows what I am talking about .. Jbucks coin Edited by GR58 01/31/2014 11:12 pm

That 's cool ! I do the same thing, I have a punch on my tool bench, and I sign all my coins just in case they get stolen ........

I know the counterstamp probably kills the value but it would drive me a little nuts knowing a large silver coin was slowly wearing down in my pocket.
Also, I love how the word "like" can mean both similar to and have feelings for.

Quite a few tears ago, my wife and I were selling Morgan dollars on ebay, buying rolls on the cheap and selling by one and two at a time. We noticed some of the counterstamped and marked up ones would sell for higher than others. We didn't get it then nor now. But we enjoyed the extra money!

Took me over four years to get 3500, so what .. ..maybe 15 ...17 years to get to 15000 more
No way .. Makes me head hurt just thinking about that many

A pocket piece would probably wear down the stamp and make it less pronounced - it does not look like it was struck too deep. I am a self-confessed coin stamper, I hope I bring a smile (or an incredulous grimace) to some CRHer's face in the future

It has a nice patina. Which would vanish after a bit of pocket wear. Now all you need is Dick & Harry to have the full set.
