I am very aware of how dirt and other elements can stain a coin. This one has some interesting stuff in the hair area and it is actually raised higher then the rest of the coin. When I sandwich other dimes on each end they will not lay flat...If that makes sense. Any ideas?

That's an odd color for a dime. Not sure what is causing the hair area to look like that, but it's very interesting. I hope someone knows the cause.

It's not a tumor! (Arnold S.) Looks like the coin spent some time outdoors, perhaps in a fountain?
