I am looking at an ebay auction of a MS 67 1923 S Peace dollar. According to the greysheets the coin is worth $20,000. So why is the highest bidder at $50.00....

I have seen a couple others just like this, are these fake?

I have not bid on any coins yet from ebay, just wondering what you thought....

OK first thing....do NOT bid on these!!

"Grade Evaluation Company" is a basement slabbing business. The prices that PCGS has is the highest Ever that one of that grade and date went for. Everyone uses that pricing guide to sell their coins and it's Very deceptive if you don't know who to believe.

No worries about the ebay section...a mod will move this eventually. look around the forum at all the different sections.

GoneFishin,
Is the coin, in your opinion, a MS67 or is that what the holder/seller claims it to be? Without a link, my guess would be it is the work of a self slabber.

You're welcome.

If it's a GEC slab, you cannot guarantee the coin is even Uncirculated. MS67? Not a chance.

The coin is a GEC slab, the 1926 S is a NSGS MS 67. The high bid on that one is under $60.00 also.... They are both very clean looking coins, the eye appeal to me is very good. Blast white on both of them...I will try to post the link...

Looking at the pics in the auction and assuming that they have not been doctored, I see an MS64 coin. The luster looks nice, but I see a couple of small hits on the reverse. I absolutely would not trust GEC grades.
