Quote: I did it. I was hoping for some wild toners, but only the end of roll coins are toned and more than a little beat up. Still fun. Good job!

So just curious. Why does the overall strike, both obverse and reverse, look weak compared to the 54 and mm? Was this a possible first run of 1954 using 1953 dies?
edited to add; Is that even how it was done back then?

Jaymon beat me to it. The reverses especially look very weak to me.

And Washington doesn't even have detail in his hair. And the eagle should have feathers on the breast and the wings, at least I don't think so, shouldn't just fade into the coin like that.

The circulation strike type A on Washington quarters is the low relief strike the Type b is a high relief strike used on proof quarters and some business struck coins from 1956-1964 have the type B reverse I have collected all of them, there is a section in the CPG that talks about these. The type C reverse is for 1965 and some 1964D quarters have this strike which is a pretty dool find the book lists and scarce to rare and also points out it has appeared in 1967 quarters. 1965-1967 quarters were struck at all us mints to try and stop coin hoarding... Just a brief idea of how crazy things were at the mint during these years.
