to CCF. It is post mint damage. Most likely a file.It is not a mint issue because it takes two dies to mint a coin, think of one hand clapping...LOL.

Wish the reverse was a clearer picture but with John. This is PMD.
The reverse was subject to a file, drill, sander. or some other means of grinding off the back/reverse.
Oops! KeevKR500, this is a very knowledgable site to learn. Keep asking questions and read here at CCF.

The edge (rim?) looks like it might have been filled with molten metal like solder perhaps.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

I'm going to say it was a botched Magician's coin. They have machines that grind away the coin to a convex or concave to fit two coins together and make a double-headed coin or a magic "changing" coin as the case may be. I can see the rim all the way around on the reverse, so my guess would be that this coin was destined to be a Magician's coin but the machine did a little too much grinding and the extra "heads" wouldn't fit. So they just filled it in with whatever and tossed it in a nickel roll. Try flipping it (like "heads or tails") and listen. If it rings, the back was simply filed off. If it just goes "thud" then it was filled back in with solder.

Very interesting find, but unfortunately just worth 5 cents.

Weigh it first. It is possible to have a blank side. I believe the error is called "Uniface". However I would bet 99.9999% of coins that have one blank side are PMD....but ya never know...weight it.. I am assuming it will be underweight.

I too think it was a Magician's coin at one time. Check to see if the back scratches easily. Might be as already noted, filled in with Lead.
