looks like a "silver round"

a 1 troy ounce silver piece minted by various companies commemorating events or people or sometimes nothing at all. check the rim to see if there is any other writing that might say ".999 1 troy ounce fine" or something like that.

Some are collectible and worth more then silver melt value but IF it is a pure silver round the it's worth at Least silver melt value (around $13.00)

see if you can weigh it

That is because unlike what you were told, it is NOT a 1 oz silver round. It is just a privately made copper alloy medal commemorating the US bicentennial. There were literally hundreds if not thousands of different private bicentennial medals made back in 1975 and 76. For the most part they are worth what ever the metal they were made from is worth.

Your photos are a little dark and scarry looking. Makes it look like a horror movie item. HMMM a coin that Dracula might have carried.
