Well photos are in and I thought I'd include this in a kind of guess the coin kind of way. I'll show the entire pic before the days end if nobody gets it right...I think you'll like :-)

Well I guess it's a friends Bday and I'm not sure if I'll be able to post later....sorry I'll have to post now :-( On the bright side I think it will cause you to "Double" check your 69's. Welcome a new member to the family! Not by computer so will post the better pics of the coin tomorrow but it is an identical DDO pattern to the San Fran Cent in my opinion...makes me wonder if they failed to put a mint mark on it.

Definitely not the big DDO. The other devices are also doubled so much you can see them from a distance:

I think the Better pics will help. Also, your example sadly is in much better shape than mine.

Never mind I see your point now...oh well still happy to make a new contribution. 1969 San Fran DDO population vs. 1969 Philly Pop. Lookin good for now think I'll get me a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich tonight instead of the Clam Chowder :-)

Better pictures are needed to to be 100% positive. But from what I am seeing I agree with Coop. There is no mistaking the 1969 Doubled Die. Your coin is not it. I also do not believe your coin is a Doubled Die but as my first statement said. Better pictures would help. Cheers

The cents during the 1968-1972 range suffered a lot from Machine Doubling. These are probably the most common ones found during these years. The doubled dies are very rare to fine. Only a few are know to exist and when another one is found, it makes coin headlines. The 1958 DDO is known to have just two examples. Other years more examples are know for them. It just depends on how closely they checked the examples from the dies before they make there runs of the dies.

Thanks coop, that would explain why I found four 1972 LMC's last night with some awesome Machine Doubling.

Well I don't have access to a microscope photo but in my opinion the lettering is raised and bubble like. Don't know if this helps at all.
