Tested by our own SPP. 93.4% Ni 6.5% copper. Weight 5.05 gms. Awesome coin. But a real stumper. Very close to a 1987 Barbados 25 cents.

Quote: those two percentages dont add up, your .1 short There are a handful of trace elements in the analysis, which are not included, because they are either just that - trade elements that occur at or near detection limit of the instrument. This is not banking, if you look at any analytical results, (XRF, quantitative SEM, laser ablation, wet chemistry, fire assay, neutron activation, etc.) the net total never adds up to an even 100%. Part of that gap would include elements that might occur, but in amounts below detection limits and interference from the XRF itself (Iridium beam source, Titanium-lined chamber, etc.).

By the weight and look of this coin I don't believe it to be on a foreign planchet . I think it is a regular quarter planchet with a copper wash . just my opinion .

I considered that it could be a copper wash but the XRF results eliminated that thought.

If it was copper wash, the coin would be magnetic...

A scratch test on the rim (don't worry Mikey, it was small and then examined under the SEM) also confirmed that it was not a copper wash.
