There are two things going on with your coin. 1. I see split plating which exposes the gray zinc underneath. I see it in multiple places which indicates that the machine was set with too much pressure. When the zinc is exposed, then it starts to deteriorate and it is called zinc rot. It gets worse with time. Here is an example: 2. On the devices that face the rim (that direction) the die shows die wear. After striking many coins the die starts wearing making an impression that shows on zincolns. Here is another example I've seen: Common and not collectable. Just something that catches the eye when we are starting out.
Thank you so much for the info, You guys are so wonderful at giving me clear answers and helping me better understand what I'm seeing, really means a lot since I have such a love for coins! Thanks again
