The image resolution isn't good enough to see what you're seeing. Most likely what you're seeing is Machine Doubling or Die Deterioration Doubling, neither of which would classify it as a doubled die. A better image would be helpful.

Wrong coin for this thread. Are you proof reading before you post? That helps to make things more organized and logical.

Eagleeye,

Scanners don't do well with coins at all. Try a camera, and be sure to do everything you can do to stabilize the camera such as using a tripod and a delayed shutter release. Eliminating camera shake is critical.

Glare can be reduced a little on a scanner. Place a sheet of darker colored paper or dark fabric on top of the coins you are scanning. This will absorb some glare. But a scanner isn't what you need for a micro photo. Some take images through a loupe or magnifying glass. Other use a microscopes. There are cheap ones out there, but the problem with them is that the lens they make for them are plastic. They images come out unnatural and color and blurry. The other microscopes with the glass lens take great images. There are so many different powered microscopes, getting the right one is the key. The poser of scope I have is a 3.5-35X. It is an infinite zoom microscope. Which means you can get the image to include the devices that you want to show. Other microscopes may have one-three powers that you can choose which one, but the zoom ones is the best way to go. Here is what I use:

The lighting that comes with the scope was removed the same day. It is not what you need. The book light I installed allows the light source from 12:00 on the coin. When you need the light in a different position on the coin, I just turn the coin to get the desired direction. Also the ramp that holds the coin is used to angle the light into the lens. The angled edge of the ramp is always needed to be at 6:00. If I turn the ramp the coins image if too dark as the light does not hit the lens. The coin's image shows, but it is dark. So I need to keep the wider edge at 6:00 and rotate the coin, not the ramp.
