I'm glad the owner allows me to show these images. It gives us an idea of what can be out there.

I'm surprised the clash is seen on Jefferson's portrait because on the die its incuse. So the letters were mashed past the "level" part of the die and into the incuse portrait. That just shows how much pressure the dies strike with. That's a amazing coin! I want one!

Thats a nice clash for a proof!

I enjoy finding clashed die examples. I found this one my first month into CRH.

Mike Diamond confirmed it to be a super clash example... I think at the time 8? were known.

There is at least one proof die clash (I'm talking die pairs, not coins) known on most modern denominations. They're not easy to find. Most of them appear to be strong but I assume this is due to the lack of luster and bag marks which detract from the "strength" of a die clash. I currently own 2 proof die clashes.

As always, that 2000-p nickel clash is amazing! I missed my opportunity to buy one and I'm regretting it now.

Yeah, I've bounced back and forth on selling mine. Hard to part with an error that is so pronounced.

I've actually found 2 or 3 other clashed die coins that are listed on the maddieclashed site. All within my first 5-10 nickel boxes. one or two decent but not listed ones since those first 10 and I'm probably up to box 30+.

I have one of these on a 1979-S Type 2 Proof dime that is a very strong clash, very similar to the one in the OP. I bought it out of a dealer junk box because it was a type 2 about 20 years ago and later realized the clash.

mddabbs, welcome to the forum!

I'd be interested in seeing photos of it if you could - sounds like a very cool clash.

I wonder if proof clashes tend to be stronger because they strike the coin twice. Would that make any difference?
