Been looking at this Ike for a couple of hours and trying to find some reference to what I am seeing at the O in dollar. Haven't found anything at the Ike Group or in the Collectible Varieties book. That probably means there is nothing to this, but take a look and see what you experts think. It almost looks like a clash from the edges of the E in Liberty on the obverse. (Haven't figured out how to do overlays yet, so I am not sure if the E lines up in this exact place). I have several 72S Blue Ikes and none of them have these marks. Thanks!

Far from an expert here that is for sure and I certainly see what you are saying but....

I could see it being a clash from the E IF the marking in the "O" wasn't so long compared to the others. The line that extends through the "O" would be the bottom of the "E" while the other two lines are far shorter. I would THINK it is more probable that those are die cracks or the start of them but I too am very interested to see what the experts have to say.

Nice looking Eisenhower dollar. Just saying.

I moved this to the V/E forum to make sure all of the experts have a look at it.

Here is a clash overlay:

You can see there could be some contact on the dies during clash, but nothing corresponds to what you are seeing on your coin. What you have is fading die scratches that were made when the die was being polished to cover die clashes.
