1956 Shilling - Got in Canada Fishing one day.
Posting it on this Canada board, because I got it there.

What is a Shilling?
Does it have any Silver?
Is it Canadian? English? Australian?
The coin is circulated. Looks to me, to be about MS40.
REEDED.
Lettering.
Elizabeth 11 Dei Grata Regina +
One shilling Fid Def
Collectible?
Range of value for a coin of that approx. grade?

Personal note: Really like Reverse the design.
Obverse nothing special.

The picture is of my (hopefully soon) Avatar

We would need pictures of both the obverse and reverse of the coin, my guess is its from the UK. It is made of copper-nickel, as for your grade, MS40 I think you mean EF40.

Sad it is not silver.

Thank you for the EF 40 info.
I have a LOT of stuff to learn.
Maybe in a decade or 2 ... I can start to be better at all this coin info.

Assuming it's a UK shilling here are a few links. If it is UK then there were two different reverse designs; the English with three leopards facing left and the Scottish with a single rampant lion.

Respectfully ... I am not even going to click on your want list.
I am not yet qualified to buy-sell-trade

Once I DID look at a want list from someone.
My intentions were innocent, and honorable. Only curious. But...

I got spanked from the bot police.
Just for even going there.

Lyle: for your serial number that you're looking for.. go register at the cdnpaper money forum... part of the serial number data base you can also input serial numbers you're looking for.. and if anyone inputs that serial number they will be notified to contact you... more serial numbers are put in there than any other .. you will have your best chances finding a match there..

Domain: Kuh's want list is part of is "signature" it will appear in every post he makes...if/when you get enough posts you will be allowed to put up a signature as well.. as long as it confines to the rules of this forum... I assure you that any links are checked and have to meet stringent standards!
Rest in Peace

Nice fishing find.

Fishing was great ... once in a life time joy. 1978.
Pricy for us poor boys.

Can't remember the pounds, but I got the big one in our party . Pike.
Best fish was a nice walleye. Dad got that one

Food was great
Accommodations were over the top.
Guides were excellent.

Only down side was the Border guys.
Those boys were business and nothing but business.
Same questions repeatedly & more repeatedly.
1 hour and 20 minuets getting in.
30 minuets getting out.

Would love to go again,
ain't going to happen .. Too old.

But I do have the Shilling to remember the fishing time of my life.

You have a Pommie shilling, not an Aussie one.
Both have the same obverse for 1956, but what gives it away, is the 'FID DEF' on the reverse.
Pity. Yours is copper nickel, the Aussie one is .500 silver.
