Sorry, shanew, but I'm not seeing a single coin there that's likely to be genuine, and an awful lot of coins that are very frequently found in the assortments of fake coins from China - although the Swiss shooting thalers in the first pic are a new one on me. It's likely the previous owner bought the entire album from a flea-market fake seller (assuming the people you bought them off weren't the fake sellers themselves and the whole "flood" story wasn't a ruse). As an example of the "typical" Chinese fake/fantasy you're up against, consider the ones with a woman on horseback and the swan-thing on the other side, dated "1877", in the second and fifth pictures. These are actually copies of a British crown dated 1977. Elizabeth II was, of course, nowhere near being born yet in 1877.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Don't feel so bad Shane, what you have there is a reference library of coins NOT to buy. Well worth studying and keeping for further reference on your next purchases So it is NOT all BAD at least you got an education out of these and I very much doubt that you will get stung again

Quote: Elizabeth II was, of course, nowhere near being born yet in 1877. Prince Charles probably has a differing opinion. But seriously, Shane, is that a copper Peace dollar in the first photo, lower left corner, or just a really dirty one? Can't really tell from the photo, but it looks like it might be too thin too.

The two Chinese "coins" are not actually fakes or fantasy pieces. They are part of a set of 10 souvenir medals commemorating the "Ten Great Emperors of Ancient China". The top piece (image 3) is Emperor Taizu (宋太-) of the Song Dynasty. The bottom piece is Emperor Wu (汉武帝) of the Han Dynasty. Gary
