I have a 1983-D Kennedy half dollar I found while searching through some bank rolls this weekend. I'm relatively new to coin collecting so pardon any terminology errors I may make here. It looks like some kind of doubling on the obverse of the coin with wide letters/numbers and a partial overlay on LIB as well as some other areas. There don't appear to be any known or significant die variations that I can find for 1983. Can anyone tell me if this is a die error or some type of common machine error?

Have you checked another 1983 half dollar? I have one on my desk and it looks just like your coin. The devices are the same size. I'm thinking the design looks that way. Always good to check coins from the same year as the design maybe different than other years.

Thanks Coop! I should have thought to look online for a picture. I went through $500 in halves this weekend and this was the only 1983-D I found. I did find 11 40% silvers and 4 1964's though :)

I have a lot to learn and I appreciate the help.
