I went to a bank I haven't been to yet to get a new box of pennies and it ended up being filled with all 2014's. I noticed while I was walking out but didn't want to try and exchange for another since they were on the verge of getting swamped and there were only 2 tellers. Plus, both of the tellers had to go to the vault to get the box. The guy even wished me good luck in my search. In hindsight, maybe he loaded me with these on purpose, but I never told him what I was doing until after he came back with the box. Either way, is there any point in opening these up? Do I need to unroll them all or just dump them like any other even though they're still in fed wraps?

wow, those look beautiful. I wish I could trade you for a box of mixed pennies, but shipping cost makes it not worth it. seems like a shame to bring those back. also, which bank did you get them at? I have been looking for a new box of cents for a year now

I'd say keep a couple rolls for yourself and either spend or trade the rest. I was actualy wanting a roll of 2014's for myself and have been meaning to go to the bank to get some. If I strike out, I have some rolls of 2010s that I could trade if you're interested once you get your posts up.
So far, I haven't heard anything regarding errors on any shield cents, so there's not much point in breaking them open.

I'm a sucker for new coins...
I would save a few rolls, and trade - spend the rest.

A lot of people do not even get a 2014 this early. Quote: So far, I haven't heard anything regarding errors on any shield cents, so there's not much point in breaking them open. True but, you never know what you could find. There have been some minor varieties on previous shield cents. Quote: Do I need to unroll them all No but, depending on your budget can you go through some and save some to see what might be discovered in the future. Good luck.

You could put them on E-Bay and call them unsearched. You wouldn't be lying.

I'm open to trading some with peeps if you're genuinely interested. I will probably save a few, but I actually have no interest in keeping the entire box. I'm not concerned with having the money tied up in them, but I want to search some rolls.

I'm trying to weigh my options here for the best return. Sell the box as a whole, sell them by the rolls, hold onto all of them, or bust them up and look for errors. Any veterans care to weigh in?

Just imagine for one second, if these turn out to have the same pedigree as their 100 year old brothers the 1914 D Lincolns. And when your 130 years old, you possess a whole brand new untouched box of them

I look for errors in Ike dollars ... and find some. I can not imagine finding errors in new pennies .. could be wrong.. If it was me I would sell the box .. or sell rolls .. Maybe keep a roll or 2, (IF) you can make some money to buy more pennies. When I do get a bag of Ikes, I personally would not take less than $1,250 ... net after ship, insurance signature etc.

Figured I would give everyone an update on what I ended up doing. I put the box on ebay with a buy it now option of $50. It sold before the end of the day. I looked at the buyer's history and he had bought a couple other boxes of 2014's. Not too bad for literally no work at all. Now I can buy more boxes!

I usually crh nickels but I got two boxes of pennies the other day. Both about 97% 2014 d. These came from Bank of America from Loomis ( the coin roller). I don't search varieties so I was a bit bummed. Decided to try again today: same result. The bad thing with this is they aren't solid rolls. There are 1-4 cents with other dates. I guess the mint uses Loomis as a distributor. Is this the case? Does this happen periodically? Anyone know?
