The self adhesive ones are great, but more than double the cost.

Just a thought, would anyone advise not to use double sided tape inside the flip?

I wouldn't. It could degrade over time and allow the coin to slip out. Plus you'd need to cut it to fit and might run into issues getting the tape and coin in place for sealing.

Not to mention it doesn't stick very well to unfinished cardboard, unless you use Very High Bond (VHB) tape which is not only thick, but will require you to jeopardize the coin to remove it.

Staples and flat-nose pliers to flatten them. A flat-clinch stapler would work, but I have never used one.

I have purchased coins in no-staple adhesive flips online, only to find the coin slipped out of the center and into the adhesive. Not good.

I use a regular stapler and flatten the backs of the staples with pliers. Works good. I have not tried a flat cinch stapler. They seem to work very well based on what I've seen.

I normally use clear 3M tape on many of my 2x2's. Last a lot longer than staples and is easier to remove. Just slit along the edge and they open. 3M tape is rather on the stable side and does not leak off dangerous gasses. When I do use staples, I simply use 3, each side and the bottom. Since the top is folded over and sort of tight, not much sence in putting one there. I use a standard pliers to flatten them too. I really don't care for staples due to one accident. Purchasing a 21S Lincoln Cent in about MS64, I used a screw driver to pry open the staples. It slipped and ran accross the face of Lincoln.
With tape more room to write, no chance of a staple getting to another coin and they slide in and out of those plastic pages with 20 slots so much easier.

this is the stapler I bought. When I bought it, years ago, it was cheaper but still not a bad deal for around $15. if you do a bit of searching on the web, you may be able to find one a bit cheaper. I bought the white model that was clearance out.

Just did a quick search on ebay, and flat clinch staplers are about $10 if you want to go that route.

Thanks to all for the advice. I'm using a 'Swingler' model stapler now and noticed the 'table' will spin around. I tried a couple staples like that and the prongs pointed out ward and were flatter but it seemed that the ends could get caught up easier. Do you need to have other then standard staples?

I use regular staples in a regular stapler. Mine is a Dollar Tree special. Just crimp them down with pliers and you'll be fine.

After 30+ years I have never a problem with pliers.

Putting coins in holders is easy.

Removing coins from holders, well... staple removers are way more dangerous than pliers!

I have decided that the next time I see one of these on sale I am grabbing it. Nothing to lose for trying.
