Sorry for putting this here. I cannot find any forums to answer my question.

Question is, is this actual sterling or not? I know it has the maker and it says "sterling" but I cannot find this online.

I just recently noticed it and looked on the bottom. I wanted to know if it could be faked and if it is.

If it was of British manufacture, and of sterling silver, it would have four tiny hallmarks next to each other, stamped in an inconspicuous location. Not so with silver, of any alloy from any other part of the World.

I suspect this piece is of American manufacture, but I am NOT an expert in this field. It looks genuine enough to me!
American colonial silverware of Paul Revere can bring astronomical prices at auction, many times the value of hallmarked silver.
It would be worthwhile for an expert on American silver tableware to offer an opinion on this one.

How much does it weigh?

I have just Googled 'Wallace silver flatware'. Very interesting.

The 3rd picture clearly shows the STERLING mark. Am I missing something here?

I realize this, however being that I had just noticed this, I was just wondering to be sure. I always hear how grandma's silver is apparently real. Then it is not.

The brand is still in business. If you search, perhaps you can contact them directly. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallac...rsmiths_Inc.

I wouldn't worry about that being real or not. Most, not all, counterfeiters prefer to make things that sell for a lot due to what they are and not what they may or may not be made of. In other words, not many faked things like that come from China.
Contrary to that though is I've seen a ton of gatteries with so many different names that look like Duracell.
