I saw on a post that someone found a 1960 Bar Nickel in a roll. What is a Bar Nickel?

I 'think' it is a variety of Nickel that has a die crack over the '0' in the date, this makes it look like there is a bar over the '0'. I think that is it but I cant find much info on them :)

It is a die error that comes out as a bar on top of the 0 in 1960

Thanks for the question and the answer. It's one I was aware of many years ago, but lost it somewhere along the way.

I guess I have one. I hadn't heard of it referred to as a Bar nickel, but now I know.

I was really excited at the first one I found... not so much on the 6th.

But I think I am seeing a variation, some seem to have the E in Liberty and the BER also with die cracks, like the were nearer the end of that dies life.

There are at least 37 different variations in what numerals and letters have a bar over them. There are a lot of varieties in '60-D nickels and these errors create a staggering number of different combinations.

This error is extremely common on '60-D's an account for nearly 20% of mintage. They were widely collected briefly but there aren't many who collect them now.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

Its a fancy way to call a coin with a die chip to try and make it more collectible. Similar to the BIE lincolns and speared buffalo. In reality they are just die chips.
