Just one more off ebay for laughs-- a NNC "1888/7". While it's a bummer this seller probably got taken, he should take it up with Centsles, rather than pass it on. "Refund is not offered on this coin at any time." says it all. Obviously, there's no way it's either the Snow-1 or Snow-2. I can't let this mistake get passed on to another collector--I'll report it. I hope you were amused. Edited by DVCollector 02/20/2014 4:48 pm

Unfortunately, I think Centsles probably did take this seller. I do not like this at all. Unfortunately, that does not justify this seller passing on the fraud. I can say that the sellers description is about the most convoluted that I have seen, and that gave me a good

Yeah...apparently the seller knows better than Snow's attribution guides Quote: The 7 used in the minting of the Indian Heads was not thin and pointed, that came from someone's imagination trying to authenticate what was not there, look at an 1887 and you will see the same 7 that was overstruck with the 8( again, not pointed or slim but rounded and full). Overstriking an 8 on a 7 must leave a bolder, larger 8, like ours. Look at rim irregularity on our coin. Given the writeup, I almost wonder if the seller "attributed" this coin himself, and paid NNC a little something to add the 1888/7?

Vermont, right--and in this case I wonder if the seller spotted NNC some extra $ for the 1888/7 attribution? His logic behind this 'overdate' is certainly novel.

I'm confused. That seller states this is an error coin. Why is it an error? The Mint did it on purpose if it was really a 8/7.

Carl--correct, overdates are intentional. The seller keeps setting up these auctions, and ebay keeps knocking them down! Here he goes again.

He might as well crack it out and spend it.

I'm no expert either, but that looks so fake it's not funny. Then he shows side-by-side mm comparisons that don't look at all alike!
