This 1832 C-1 was cracked out of an old ANACS slab. They slabbed it problem free at AU50 (old small white holder). It appears to have been cleaned and retoned over time. It is more red in color than brown.
This particular year and variety is interesting in that it has an erroneously punched 'E' below the 'E' in STATES peaking out from beneath the leaf, a fact I didn't know until I started reading more about the series. I find it more interesting than the 12 star error of 1828, so I thought I would share.
Breen die state III, a die crack runs from the rim, through the A in STATES to the wreath.
