All things being equal, I prefer toning (in general) on Eisenhower dollars, and Kennedy half dollars.

Up to a point, the richer the toning, the better.

Also any toning needs to be very even from top to bottom, and right to left. I do not like blotchy toning.

I will add a question to your thoughts. Why is my Eisenhower 1976 coins toned more on the reverse, than the obverse?

One more question. Does toning hurt the slabbed grading?

Thanks for any opinions.

I prefer toning on moderns, makes them seem more unique. Not sure about the 76 Ike reverse, but I've read (on this forum I believe) that the rinse the mint used in the 77 & 78 Ikes contributed to the large amount of them toning golden.

I love a coin that has hints of toning. Not a big fan of the rainbow toning.

I prefer mild toning on modern coins.
