I couldn't find a previous topic on this subject. If there is one cold the Mods please direct it to me. Thanks. There is a particular coin that I'm looking to buy, but it is not straight in its holder. Any suggestions on how to straighten the coin safely? I found this article on ebay which recommends a sonic toothbrush:

Has anyone tried this with success?

I didn't bother to look at that ebay thing. IF a coin is in a plastic TPGS holder and is tilted, not a lot you really could do. Of course this would depend on the metal of the coin. For example many netals are either highly magnetic or slightly magnetic. IF the coin in Quesion is even slightly magnetic, a strong magnet may be able to turn the coin. Some metals may take a really powerful magnet to do this. For example if you could aquire an AlNiCo Magnet you might be able to use that. Note the AlNiCo Magnet is not Iron based.
I've never tried it but you could just cut open the slab and turn the coin any way you want.

If you tap one of the corners of the slab with your hand/desk ect itll start to work its way around. Of course the down side is since you could move it itll likely move on its own some over time too.

Good way to turn an MS coin into an AU slider.

No, the face of the coin isn't touching the plastic of the slab. Whether the prongs lose and sliding around or not the prong is already in contact with slab faces preventing the coin from doing so

I recently had a rattler Morgan CC Dollar in a GSA holder that was turned about 45 degrees. Found that if I tapped it a certain way the coin would rotate back to the proper position. Took a while but I got it done. Not being level is another problem. I have a penny in a TPG holder with that problem.

I love that ebay article as a possible solution. Nothing more fun than repurposing technology.

Thanks for the input, guys. SD- I think I'm going to try the sonic toothbrush technique. It seems a lot safer than THIS alternative method. . . . . shudder.
