I picked this up a bit ago, I can't get good images, due to glare. but on the obverse I can see 4 inches on a tape measure and on the reverse I can see at least 6. (harder on the obverse due to some light toning) Is getting a prooflike or semi-proof like designation worth sending in?

That all depends on if you want to put money into the slab. If you are not certain it will get a PL grade it could be risky. I think it looks like a nice coin but I can't tell what grade it is. These only sell for about $100 in MS62 - MS63 grades. I don't see any PL listed on ebay, I do know it would increase the value some. On the VAM page it shows all of the condition census and it looks like 1/3 of all of the VAM 70 graded at ANACS have been given PL designation so it is pretty common to find these VAMs with PL surfaces.

Id say...send it to ANACS. Thats were I, and many send their VAMs...JR attributes it all. ANACS is not expensive and have been doing a solid job the last couple years. But I would suggest sending it somewhere...at least for attribution at VSS or something.
