Hi everyone,
I am getting old and can not see mint marks as clear as I used to, So I did some reading online and just ordered A "Plugable usb 2.0 dig. microscope by pluggable tech.

It's 2mp, 10X-50X optical zoom, 200 digital magnification.

Can anyone tell me if this is A decent unit, I have no idea if I should be spending 100"s of dollars on A microscope, Or if this one will allow me to see coins up close, It only cost 39.00 on Amazon, So it's not like it's gonna break me, money wise.

Thanks for all your great input.

Since you already ordered it,give it a try.For that price it might be OK.Look up Dino light and Am scope brands.

Same problem, easiest solution is use a scanner - if the software allows, choose professional mode. set to 1200dpi, crop the scan region to just include the coin. Look at the resultant jpg on screen

Most scanners have white on the underside of the lid, I get better results with a dark background (in my case a paper back book with a plain dark blue back cover)

I bought one of those cheap USB microscopes - found focusing tricky, and you cant photo the whole coin

Dale should be able to photograph the entire coin with a 10x50.
