Thanks in advance for your comments about this coin.

You will notice that it does have a short and quite thin scratch above the eagles left wing. It is fairly unobtrusive, but do you think this small defect is enough to preclude it from being encapsulated?

This is a deceptive rarity, with perhaps a hundred or a few more known to survive. It's my opinion that the scratch would be considered an "acceptable" circulation artifact, but even in Detail grade this one ought to be in a slab (to address your larger purpose for posting these). This is the more-common (relatively speaking) low-mint mark Variety 1. I believe VF30 is appropriate.

Actually, I don't think you've posted a coin which doesn't deserve a slab, if only for resale purposes.

There is nothing like the look of circulated gold which has taken on a tone like this.
Im at VF25 and yes, it should slab just fine..problem free.

Keep in mind, the astute grader of this issue is aware they're widely-known for weak strikeup in the center. I teetered at VF35 before choosing my grade.

I will go with VF-30 and I think it will grade problem free.
