And also, what do you suggest, should I keep the cent in the set or should I break the set and put the cent into a seperate coin capsule?

I would keep it packaged till you area ready to sell it or have it graded. The cello will prevent fingerprint marks on it.

It's not inside a cello Coop, it's inside a hard proof set case. About grading, I live in Turkey. I purchased this set along with some others back in early 2000's from internet. I was thinking of swapping them at the local coin shop here. Getting it graded will cost me a lot of postage (from Turkey to the States, etc.). I am unsure what to do with it.

I would save the set for now. I would sell it on ebay with the title mentioning the proof set with a small date "S". That should peak interest for it. The cent worth a lot more than a normal proof set. So I would keep it locked up until you area ready to sell.

Thanks for the info Coop, it is appreiciated, how much do you guys think it would worth? I am unsure what to do with it ,since I do not collect US Variety coins. Maybe it would make a good swap item in the future.

Yes--that's the small date LMC proof--congrats! I found a couple of these recently. As a set, I'm told they're worth around $75 (retail). Also check the dime--some did not get the "S" mint mark and they're quite valuable.

Thank you DVcollector, I was quite sure the guy who sold me those must have checked the variations before shipping/selling them no the internet. I bought them from an American seller, back a long time ago. Wow, this must be quite a find on my behalf. I am checking the dime right now...and it has the "S" mintmark clear as day:) but still today must be my lucky day. Interetsing thing karma is. I lost a 50 Turkish Liras (roughly 22-23 US$) banknote at this morning, today (must have dropped it on my way.. Now, seems like in the very same day life is repaying me:)

Definitly a small date..in a proof set...ok how are the other coins? Check the half for doubling. Check the we trust portion of the coin.check the quarter in the QUARTER DOLLAR portion for doubling. Known varieties as far as it goes..i dont think real numbers exist on these and the have existed long enough to mostly have been discovered, myself I have a small date proof set and its in the "hey wanna see something cool" section of my collection. Thats a legit awesome cool piece of us mint sweeteness. Perhaps one day the known numbers of these will pop up and it will be known as far as how rare. Ok off the soap box!! Great piece and the coin looks in great shape..here is mine to compare

I've just checked the QUARTER in the 25c coin ,and the entire lettering on the half dollar with my bare eye, yet there seems like no doubling at all, but will check it with a loupe later in the evening. It's so far, the only US variety coin I have found on my own (we do not have much US coins here all the way, in Turkey). Coop suggested me to get it slabbed and graded, but I need to check how can it be done from outside US.

If it is less than a $100 coin, it might not pay to have it graded? I would wait until you get back to the U.S. It would be terrible to lose it in the mail. I would put a sticky on the set if you have more than one. You wouldn't want to forget that it is a small date as time goes on.
