Are the circulated star notes worth much over face value or does it depend on other things? I am not familiar with US currency as I only currently collect Canadian banknotes>

On average if it's in good condition you can get 110%-120% return on it. I'm gonna save a bunch up first then offer them all here first then move them to ebay.

I have no luck getting *s from the bank but at work I get about 3 to 5 a week, not all in the best of shape but good enough.

I need to get friendly with a teller!

Great contact you've found at the bank graceoutcast. 10% to 20% above face is not a bad deal when the bank is saving them for you. Please let us (me) know how your experience was with buying your first box of halves. I want to but still haven't bought one yet. Every so often I ask for a few rolls.

Graceoutcast,
although this is about notes, but I have to ask you which bank do you go to to get the Halves? I live in NYC and most of the banks I go to doesn't have any rolls? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Most banks won't carry a $500 box of Halves. You have to ask someone to order them for you.

The most my bank had at any given time was $42 in halves.

The new large faced star notes aren't worth much over face, it any. If sold on ebay, they will sell at face, if not less than face... If you have people in your town who would buy them, more power to yeah. But the old small faced, pre 1995 notes are worth more than face. Star notes, that is.

I just received another $20 star note from my bank today. I've received 3 ($60 worth) in the last $400 I've withdrawn in $20's. These are all the large face $20's. Where's the best place to find out the mintage/printing of star notes. I can't help but save all that I find and if they are worth nothing in the large face then I should take them back and get rolls.

Graceoutcast: how much does a box weigh? I doubt I could carry it.

Because there are so many of them. Bills don't last as long as coins do. One note may last from a month to many years. But mostly just months. The old small faced notes are over 12 years old and can be quite hard to find star notes still in circulation. Some of the older notes, the ones that noticable look different, are some times gathered by the banks and destroyed for being in too poor of condition or just being out dated.

How much do you think this star note is worth?

1974 series, No tears or perforations, but has creases from being folded.

I personally like older star notes or the $2 star notes are the coolest.

I see something on the left hand border that may be a small tear. Your note grades at best, EF. So according to the Coin Worlds Paper Money Values quartarly issued magasine, it would be worth $20 in EF and $10 in VF. So if you sold it at a coin show or flea market you could get $20 easily, but on ebay you would get $10 for it, I would think.
