blackandgold - it is a broadstruck error. It is much closer in size to a nickel than a cent.

To follow up with robbudo a broad struck is when the pieces of metal that hold the edge in the striking chamber during the strike are not there, in return the pressure pushes the metal outwards making it much wider than regular.

So the wide and uneven rim is a result of the error and not the error itself?

From the CC dictionary ...
"Broadstrike
Coin struck without a collar, thus when the coin is struck the metal is allowed to expand and increase in diameter. May be centered or uncentered, but must not have any missing lettering or design detail."

The error is that it was struck without a collar. It manifests itself by having a larger diameter than usual.
