I was just at my local Walmart with my mom a couple hours or so ago, and on the way out, I heard my foot kick a coin, so I looked for it, and it was a U.S. nickel, and naturally, being a nickel hoarder, I picked it up, and my mom goes "Oh, there's three more" then I saw them and bent over and picked them up. Then my mom goes "Oh my God! There's a jackpot!" and I said, "Where?" and she said "Look in the machine" (the rejection tray) and there was a fist full worth of U.S. nickels ($2.60 face value in all, but nothing special) a U.S. quarter, a Canadian quarter, a Canadian dime, a Canadian nickel, and a Canadian penny. Too bad they weren't dollar coins, or even better: halves.

Is there anything special about a 1953 Canadian penny? Mine looks a little different from my older dates Canadian pennies I saved. The queen's portrait looks smaller on the 1953 than the higher dates.

Nice find I look but never found anything.

1953 cent you have to look at the 'I' in DEI on the obv if it points between 2 denticles and the 'I' has curves on top and bottom, it is a No Shoulder Fold.

If the 'I' is straight and points to a denticle it is a With Shoulder Fold. This is the one you want. $$$

Hah, I remember I could be able to find at least a dollar in change at my school everyday. People leave it EVERYWHERE. On the floor in the cafeteria, in the vending machines.

I found a dollar bill with batman drawn over George Washington :O

The Queen has gone through at least 6 portraits in all of her coin-requiring realms, Canada has used 4 (not counting small variations). 1953 was the first year of the "Laureate bust" (1953-1964), then we had the "Tiara bust" (1965-1989), then the portrait with a big crown (not sure if it has a real name, 1990-2003) and finally, a portrait of her with no crown (!) that is only used in Canada - the UK and others use a different portrait that we missed out on.

Cool now you can get that little place on the beach in Belize. Nice score. I like it. Last year my niece says look uncle mike I found two new pennies. I said that's nice. She said I didn't pick up the quarters cause I don't collect them. I said where are you crazy and I walked about 100 yards back and picked up the two quarters.
