Check and see if it matches one of these 2 VAMs http://www.vamworld.com/1887-P+VAM-3A http://www.vamworld.com/1887-P+VAM-14A. Otherwise try and match it up with one of these, it looks like a near date http://www.vamworld.com/1887-P+Obverses. It will help determine the value knowing what VAM it is. Lucky Cuss Pillar of the Community United States 4883 Posts	Posted 03/09/2014 8:24 pm I also had the first reaction that it was an AU coin, but (and this my be just an issue of a low resolution image) the eagle's breast looks pretty smooth to me, so it might slip down into the XF range.
