I'll start out!

First, a very sweet key coin!

I'm going with F-12.

The streaks on the obverse, IMO, are from an improperly mixed alloy. It adds character!

I would guess initially F-15 as well.

What is going on with the date and the identical below the 5? Is this an RPD or is it a break?

To me it is a very nice VG-10 LIBERTY is unusually strong but not complete, I won't call it a Fine without a full LIBERTY. Even if the I was visible I could only go with F-12 because there isn't enough hair detail to justify a higher grade than that.

As for what PCGS calls it, who knows and who cares. What matters to me is what I think it is, not what they think it is.

"I" must be there for F12.

Me, VG10
PCGS, F12

I also moved this to grading.

Disagree somewhat with the 2 recent pro's views ... whose opinions I greatly respect.

I'm going F12 (barely) on this key date.

The "I" in the obverse legend LIBERTY is always the first to show wear ... and from what I can is barely there on this coin ... that's F12 territory.

The rims and dentils are full and complete ... and the reverse motto E PLUBRIBUS UNUM is fully visible without significant weakness. Also F12 territory.

Whatever the wizards at PCGS said is always a guess .... but I'm in at F12.

my opinion its a vg-10, being a key date I am going to guess they were liberal with it and graded it F-15.

I think it's a strong F12 because of the hair detail and eye appeal

A close-up of the date:

These nickels are prone to that apparently.

I wouldn't go more than F12. PCGS? F15.
