I was going through an old coin collection from my childhood and found this 1899 MD.It seems to be a somewhat uncommon date and mint but I've googled the coin and am at a loss for what grade this may be. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

to CCF johnhillerich.

It's tough to make a grade judgment from small photos but first impression is AU58, but for all can tell it could be MS. Try cropping your photos to just larger than the coin.

My impression from the photos is also that at worst it's a "slider" or in other words, a higher grade of AU. A bit less glare or reflection on your next photos would be helpful to assessing it more accurately. The Philadelphia output for this year was pretty paltry.

Looks like a high AU from these pictures.
